Electric vehicle tax credits can be valuable, but they come with several IRS requirements—including income limits, vehicle price caps, and eligibility rules.
If you purchased a new or used EV in 2025, be sure to provide your dealer’s “Time of Sale” report to your tax preparer. This document is required to properly claim the credit on your tax return.
Keeping the right documentation now can help avoid delays or issues later.
If you have questions about EV credits or other tax planning strategies, our team at Elm3 Financial Group is always here to help.

To begin preparing your tax return, please upload your documents to the secure client portal or drop them off at our office.
A few helpful reminders as we get started:
• Order of Processing: Tax returns are prepared in the order that documents are received.
• Documentation First: We will begin processing your tax return once all necessary documents have been submitted.
• Pickup Appointments: Once your return is fully completed, we will reach out to schedule your pickup appointment.
Submitting your documents early helps keep the process moving smoothly during the busy tax season.
If you have any questions about uploading documents or using the portal, our team at Elm3 Financial Group is happy to help.

There are a number of tax documents or pieces of information that folks may forget about or overlook during filing season. If you had tip income or overtime pay, make sure to provide your preparer with your final paystub of the year! Those with health insurance from the exchange should provide their preparer with a Form 1095-A, and those who took HSA distributions need to provide a Form 1099-SA. To deduct business mileage, you will need to provide a log showing total business miles driven during 2025 in addition to the vehicle's make/model and the vehicle's beginning and end-of-year odometer readings. Those with college students should provide a 1098-T to show tuition costs and may need to provide Form 1099-Q if you took distributions from a 529 Plan. Finally, please alert your preparer if you traded in cryptocurrency during 2025.
