Many business owners hear the terms W-9 and 1099 but aren't always sure how they work together.
A W-9 is collected from an independent contractor before work begins and provides the information needed for tax reporting. A 1099 is then issued at the end of the year to report payments made to that contractor.
Getting these forms right can help you avoid costly mistakes and stay compliant with IRS requirements.
If you have questions about W-9s, 1099s, or any other tax-related matters, give me a call at (630) 635-3621. I'm happy to help.
