The URA has issued new rules on passenger baggage at Entebbe International Airport with simplified clearance procedures.

COMPLIANCE ALERT:

All accountable persons are required to submit to the Financial Intelligence Authority a compliance report and internal anti-money laundering and combating terrorist financing (AML/CFT) policy by 31 January 2024.

The accountable persons required to comply with this regulation include; advocates, accountants, trust companies, casinos, real estate agents, dealers in precious metals & gems, financial institutions, (brokers, dealers & investment advisors licensed under the Capital Markets Authority Act), insurance companies & insurance intermediaries (agents & brokers), Registrars of Companies, Registrars of Land, Uganda Investment Authority, licensing authorities, (NGOs, churches & other charitable organizations), and others listed under the Second Schedule of the Anti-Money Laundering Act, 2013.

COMPLIANCE ALERT:

All companies that were struck off the register should apply to be restored within one year to avoid de-registration which will lead to their company names being available for use by other interested applicants.
