Temporary Closure of Offices

The Board of Inland Revenue (BIR) wishes to advise that its Head Office located at the Inland Revenue Division (IRD) Tower, Government Campus Plaza, #2-4 Ajax Street, Port of Spain will be temporarily closed to the public on Thursday 11th June and Friday 12th June, 2026. The closure is as a result of internal infrastructural repairs works being undertaken at the facility.

The Board apologises for any inconvenience caused during this time, and thank persons for their support and understanding.

Despite the Green Fund containing $12.9 billion, as confirmed by the Auditor General’s Report on the Public Accounts for 2025, environmental non-government organisations (NGOs) and community groups continue to report issues with accessing funding.
Some have even indicated that they face closure in the coming weeks if funding is not granted.

Landlord Business Surcharge Registration Deadline Extended to June 30th, 2026 Following Public Engagement

Minister of Finance, The Honourable Davendranath Tancoo, MP, said the extension follows engagement with stakeholders and members of the public, and is intended to give landlords additional time to organise documents, complete registration and avoid penalties.

“This extension strengthens the implementation, while ensuring that the rental sector is better regulated and positioned for further growth.” - Minister Tancoo

Non-exempt landlords are encouraged to use the extended period to regularise their position and become compliant.
