Under Royal Decree No. 802 (B.E. 2569), SMEs with paid-up capital under THB 5 million and annual revenue under THB 30 million can claim a 200% deduction — the full expense, plus another 100% on top — for spend on:

▪️ Software purchase, development, or subscription.
▪️ Hardware and smart devices (POS systems, barcode scanners, IoT — not general-purpose computers).
▪️ Digital services registered with DEPA

The cap is THB 300,000 total — covering the whole eligibility window, 24 June 2025 through 31 December 2027, not per year. So the smart move is planning your digital spend across that window, not just this filing season.

If you're a small business owner who's been putting off that accounting software upgrade or POS system, this is the year the government is effectively splitting the bill with you.

You may have seen headlines about a VAT hike. Here's the actual state of play: a Senate committee has recommended raising VAT from 7% to 10%, phased in one percentage point a year over three years — alongside removing the VAT exemption for small businesses under THB 1.8 million in revenue, and new levies on stock trading and gold.

The reasoning: Thailand's budget deficit has run near 4% of GDP for a decade, and public debt could brush against its legal ceiling as soon as 2027.

That's a proposal, not a policy. Cabinet has already gone the other way twice — extending the reduced 7% VAT rate, most recently through 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟯𝟬, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟳. The government's own posture has been to keep extending, not to raise.

Your balance sheet may look different this year — even if your business didn't change at all.

𝗧𝗔𝗦 𝟭 (current vs. non-current liabilities): the test is now whether you have the contractual right to defer repayment 12+ months — not just your intention to. A loan with a covenant you could theoretically breach may now have to be shown as due within a year, even if you're fully compliant. That can quietly worsen your liquidity ratios on paper, right when a bank is reviewing them.

𝗧𝗙𝗥𝗦 𝟭𝟲 (sale-and-leaseback): new measurement guidance for anyone who's sold and leased back property, equipment, or vehicles — worth re-checking your existing lease liability figures.

𝗧𝗙𝗥𝗦 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗡𝗣𝗔𝗘𝘀: good news for smaller, unlisted companies — simplified disclosure and financial-instrument rules mean less reporting burden, not more.

If your business carries loan covenants, leased assets, or you're preparing statements for a lender this year, it's worth a review before the numbers surprise someone else before they surprise you.

We at 𝗚𝗣𝗦 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴can review your financials against these new standards and flag anything that needs adjusting — just get in touch and we'll walk you through it.

Did you time your money transfer wrong? Thailand may fix that — 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝘆𝗲𝘁.

Since 2024, any Thai tax resident (180+ days a year in-country) who remits foreign-sourced income into Thailand owes personal income tax on it — no matter what year it was earned. That single rule change reshaped planning for expats, retirees, and Thais with income abroad.

𝗡𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘂𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗱𝗿𝗮𝗳𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻 𝗲𝘅𝗲𝗺𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: foreign income remitted in the same calendar year it's earned, or the year after, would escape Thai tax entirely. Miss that window and it's taxed at the normal progressive rates (5–35%).

Example: earn it in 2026, remit it in 2026 or 2027 → tax-free under the draft rule. Remit it in 2028 → taxable.

𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘁 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗮𝗹 — 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝘆𝗲𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗲. But if you're sitting on offshore pension income, dividends, or rental income you've been holding back, the timing of when you bring it into Thailand could soon matter a lot more than it does today.

We at 𝗚𝗣𝗦 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 can help you make sense of how this could affect you, and plan the right timing once the rule is finalized. Reach out to our team for a personalized review.

𝗧𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗮𝘅; 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁.

Thailand’s tax system is facing increasing pressure to evolve.

The conversation around tax reform is not simply about raising or lowering tax rates. It is about creating a tax system that is more efficient, broader in scope and better suited to an increasingly digital economy.

𝗙𝗼𝗿 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀, 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀.

A broader tax base may bring more businesses and income streams into the formal tax system. Digital businesses and online income are changing how revenue is generated, while existing exemptions, deductions and tax structures may come under greater scrutiny.

At the same time, higher tax rates can have wider economic consequences, influencing consumer spending, investment, business expansion and competitiveness.

𝗙𝗼𝗿 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗼𝘄𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿: 𝘁𝗮𝘅 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗯𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲.

As Thailand’s tax environment continues to develop, businesses should be reviewing their accounting records, reporting processes, business structures and overall tax position to ensure they are prepared for potential changes.

At 𝗚𝗣𝗦 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴, we help businesses maintain accurate financial information and make informed decisions in an evolving regulatory environment.

Understanding where your business stands today is the first step towards preparing for what comes next.

𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗣𝗡𝗗.𝟱𝟭 𝗘𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸.

For companies subject to Thailand’s mid-year corporate income tax filing, the PND.51 is more than a routine tax form. It requires businesses to estimate their annual net profit and calculate the tax payable based on that estimate.

𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗸 𝗶𝘀 𝗼𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗻 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗲𝗱:

If the estimated net profit is understated by more than 25% of the actual net profit, without reasonable justification, an additional 20% surcharge may apply to the tax shortfall. This makes accurate forecasting particularly important.

𝗕𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗿:

▪️ Current-year revenue: Is your projected income based on realistic sales and contracts?

▪️ Operating expenses: Are expected costs properly reflected in the forecast?

▪️ Profit margins: Have changes in pricing or costs affected your expected profitability?

▪️ Taxable adjustments: Have you considered relevant tax adjustments when estimating taxable profit?

▪️ Supporting records: Can your estimate be supported by reliable accounting information?

A PND.51 estimate should not simply be based on last year's figures. It should reflect the company's actual financial position and reasonable expectations for the current accounting period.

At 𝗚𝗣𝗦 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴, we help businesses review their financial information, forecast taxable profits and prepare for their tax filing obligations with greater accuracy and confidence.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗡𝘂𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗗𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝗟𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗔𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗕𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗬𝗼𝘂

Business owners naturally focus on revenue, profit and the balance in the bank account. But some of the most important financial warning signs are found elsewhere in the numbers.

𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗻 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗱𝗲:

▪ Gross Margin: Revenue may be increasing while margins are quietly shrinking.
▪ Debtor Days: Slow-paying customers can put pressure on cash flow, even when sales look strong.
▪ Operating Costs: Small increases across multiple expenses can significantly affect profitability over time.
▪ Customer Concentration: Relying heavily on a small number of customers can create financial risk if one is lost.
▪ Cash Flow Trends: A profitable business can still face financial pressure if cash is not being collected at the right time.
▪ Working Capital: Changes in inventory, receivables and payables can reveal pressure before it appears in the profit and loss statement.

The key is not simply having financial data. It is understanding what the numbers are telling you—and identifying potential problems before they become expensive.

At GPS Accounting, we help businesses turn financial data into practical insight, giving owners greater visibility over performance, cash flow and the decisions that drive growth.
Because sometimes the most important number is the one you haven't been looking at.
