Setting Up an Offshore Company in Singapore

The term offshore company is often misused when applied to Singapore. A Singapore-incorporated company with foreign owners is governed by exactly the same Companies Act 1967 rules as any local entity — same registers, same filings, same transparency.

Our updated 2026 guide clarifies when the label genuinely applies, the legitimate uses for foreign founders and holding companies, and the current requirements: resident directors, beneficial-ownership registers, banking due diligence, ECI and Form C-S deadlines.

What is Mosque Building and Mendaki Fund (MBMF)?

MBMF is the payroll deduction many Singapore employers run without fully understanding it: a fixed, banded contribution from Muslim employees, collected by the CPF Board to fund mosque building and MENDAKI's education work.

Our updated guide explains who must contribute in 2026, how the wage bands are set, how remittance fits the monthly CPF cycle, and how MBMF differs from MENDAKI, CDAC and SINDA.

Our 2026 guide covers the 0.25% levy rate, who is covered (including foreign and part-time staff), a step-by-step computation with worked examples, and the 14th-of-the-month payment deadline.

Singapore Company Secretary: 6-Month Rule

Every Singapore company must appoint a company secretary within 6 months of incorporation. Here are ACRA rules, residency, and Bizfile deadlines.

When must a Singapore company appoint a company secretary? Under Singapore company law, every company must appoint a qualified corporate secretary within six months from its incorporation date. Furthermore, the appointed secretary must ordinarily reside in Singapore, and a sole director cannot serve as the company secretary.

Once an appointment is finalized, you must lodge the details on ACRA's Bizfile within 14 days to stay fully compliant with statutory regulations.

How Should Businesses Plan an Asia-Pacific Expansion from Singapore?

Asia-Pacific expansion remains the highest-value growth move for Singapore companies in 2026, but headline rates, licensing regimes and the global minimum tax have all shifted since the last planning cycle. Choosing the wrong market or entry structure is far costlier than taking time to sequence the decision properly.

Our new guide covers how to shortlist markets across ASEAN and beyond, compare subsidiary, branch and representative office structures, plan for withholding tax and transfer pricing, and follow a six-stage roadmap from research to first revenue.
