Compulsory for age 30-40 singaporean and PR. However for those under ElderShield scheme is optional to opt into CareShield.
Compulsory CareShield Life to start on Oct 1 for residents born in 1980 or later

As you are aware, the old ElderShield program will be revamped and the new scheme CareShield Life will be launched this year.
Aviva is offering free coverage. Benefits are payable in the event of severe disability during this period, defined as the inability to perform 3 out of 6 Activities of Daily Living.
This plan will be discontinued once the 9 months is up.
Benefits claimable: $600/mth for 5 years
You are eligible if:
a) You are Singaporean/PR
b) Born between 01/01/1980 to 30/06/1990

b) You have made previous claims with Aviva

Aviva's Disability Support Programme
Free programme that provides interim financial assistance to Singaporeans and PRs aged 30-40, if they become severely disabled before they enter the national CareShield Life scheme. Register by 30 June 2020.
