Global Markets Under Pressure — What's Driving the Sell-Off?

AI spending concerns, inflation and economic uncertainty weighed on global stock markets last week.

According to the iFAST Financial Weekly Market Update (Week Ending 23 October 2026), several major markets recorded declines as investors reassessed the outlook for technology companies and economic growth.

I was reading the Three Little Pigs story to my child, and I thought that this story would actually relate to financial planning.

We've probably all heard this childhood story before. But this time, it made me think about something a little deeper.

Are we building our financial lives with straw, sticks or bricks?

The first little pig built his house with straw. It was quick and easy, much like living from paycheck to paycheck without emergency savings or a long-term plan.

The second pig built with sticks. A little stronger, just like someone who has started saving or purchased some insurance, but hasn't really looked at whether everything is sufficient.

The third pig patiently built his house with bricks. One brick at a time, he created a stronger foundation.

And isn't that what financial planning is about?

Managing our expenses, building emergency savings, having suitable insurance protection, planning for retirement, and investing wisely according to our needs and risk tolerance.

Because the Big Bad Wolf in our lives doesn't always come knocking at the door.

Sometimes, he appears as an unexpected illness, a job loss, a financial crisis, or simply the rising cost of living.

Of course, even the strongest financial plan cannot eliminate every risk. But being prepared can make life's challenges a little easier to manage.

You don't need to have a lot of money to start planning. And you don't need to build everything overnight.

Start with one brick. Then another.

After all, financial planning isn't just about growing wealth. It's about creating greater security and peace of mind for ourselves and the people we love.

So, let me ask you…

What is your financial house made of?

If you're unsure where to begin, I'd be happy to have a friendly conversation and help you understand your options.

Are You Paying Too Much for Insurance… or Too Little to Stay Protected? 🤔

Spending more doesn't always mean you're better protected. And spending less doesn't necessarily mean you're saving wisely!

So, how much should you spend?

A general guide is 10–15% of your take-home income, but the right amount depends on your needs, responsibilities and life stage.

Insurance should protect your lifestyle, not become a burden on it.

It's not about spending MORE. It's about protecting SMARTER.

Unsure if you're overpaying or underinsured? Let's have a chat!

Are You Paying Too Much for Insurance… or Risking Too Much by Paying Too Little?

Here's something many people don't realise:

Spending more on insurance doesn't automatically mean you're better protected.

And spending less doesn't necessarily mean you're making a smarter financial decision.

The real question is: Are you paying the RIGHT amount for the protection you actually NEED?

So, how much of your income should go towards insurance?

As a general budgeting guide, you may consider setting aside around 10–15% of your take-home income for insurance protection.

But remember, this is a guideline, not a one-size-fits-all rule.

Your ideal budget depends on your family responsibilities, financial commitments, existing coverage, and stage of life.

Good financial planning isn't about having the most insurance policies. It's about having the right protection without sacrificing your financial well-being.

Insurance should protect your lifestyle, not compromise it.

After all, what's the point of being well-insured if you're constantly struggling to afford your everyday expenses?

The goal isn't to spend more on protection. It's to protect more wisely.

Not sure if you're overpaying, underinsured, or simply unsure whether your coverage still meets your needs?

Let's have a conversation and review your protection together — no pressure, just clarity.

As a financial adviser, I review different critical illness plans to see how they can support my clients and their families during recovery.

I consider early-stage cover, repeat-claim benefits, cancer support, claim conditions and premiums together.

Ultimately, my aim is to help them understand the differences and find coverage that fits their needs, family commitments and budget.

If you’d like to review your critical illness protection, let’s have a chat.

Happy Children’s Day!

Small wonders. Endless possibilities.

From their endless questions to the little hands reaching for ours, children remind us how much joy we can find in everyday moments.

Our wish for them is simple: to grow up feeling loved, stay curious, and have the courage to follow their dreams—with someone cheering them on along the way.

Give them love today. Plan for their tomorrow.

Through the time we spend together, the encouragement we offer, and the steps we take for their future, we give their dreams room to grow.

What is your wish for your little one? Complete this sentence in the comments:

“My wish for my child’s future is…”
