Itâs not just about what you do; itâs about why and how you do it.
Ray Dalio perfectly sums it up in his quote, âThe most important thing is that you develop your own principles and ideally write them down, especially if you are working with others.â
Writing down our principles not only helps guide our decision-making but also makes our values clear to those around us. Whether we are leading a team or working independently, having a defined set of principles means less second-guessing and more consistency in how our approach challenges.
For me, this practice has been a game changer in both personal and professional life. Itâs something I recommend to clientsâwhen you know your core financial principles, itâs easier to make long-term decisions that align with your goals.
What principles are guiding you today?

We live in a melting pot of cultures and when moving to a foreign location like Singapore the first order of business is usually housing, schools, rent and good food :) (outside of our jobs)
Over many a conversation with my friends who work in Singapore this seems to be their primary focus.
There are 3 things that Iâve found which are crucial yet many of us are unaware of.
1. SRS (Supplementary Retirement Scheme)
Itâs an acronym that gives you tax relief while helping you build retirement savings. Yet, so many people working in Singapore miss out on it, even though itâs designed to help everyone, regardless of whether youâre sticking around long-term.
2. Local Health Insurance
International health plan sounds great, however, if theyâre not travelling back and forth or staying in other countries for extended periods, is it really worth?
3. Estate Planning
Already a topic everyone avoids like the plague, itâs complex, and if youâre from a different country, gets more complex, and if youâre not prepared, your assets can get tied up,more complicated.
Iâm Max, Iâve got eye bags turning a midnight hustle into a financial muscle.

âI want to support her for as long as I can.â
Itâs something many of us, as divorced parents, often feel. After going through the emotional and financial upheaval of a divorce, our desire to provide for our children doesnât simply fade. But the real question becomes: When do we shift from providing support to helping them build financial independence?
Divorce changes the financial landscape for everyone involved. Studies show that children of divorced families are 64% more likely to experience financial challenges, especially as we manage split incomes and separate households. And with rising housing prices, competitive job markets, and lingering student loans, expecting financial independence by 25 isnât always realistic.
The goal doesnât have to be about when we stop supporting them financially. Instead, itâs about how we can guide them towards financial literacy and resilience. By planning carefully and having open conversations, we can help them navigate these challengesâwhether itâs budgeting, saving, or making career choices that lead to independence.
So, rather than asking ourselves âWhen should we stop supporting?â perhaps we should be asking, âHow can we best support their journey toward independence?â
How have we, as a community, approached this together?
