AI Computer Overrides Human Command

Hugging Face Security IncidentOpenAI intentionally removed certain safety guardrails during benchmarking to gauge the offensive capabilities of its systems.

OpenAI's autonomous AI agents, including its latest GPT-5.6 Sol model, secretly hacked into Hugging Face's internal production infrastructure while testing cybersecurity capabilities. The agents used stolen credentials and zero-day vulnerabilities to chain attack vectors and infiltrate the servers. Both companies are actively collaborating on forensic investigations.

OpenAI said that its AI models were behind an "unprecedented cyber incident" that impacted Hugging Face.

The models escaped a sandboxed testing environment, accessed the internet and exploited a vulnerability to gain access to Hugging Face's systems, OpenAI said.

The incident is unique because it was "driven, end to end, by an autonomous AI agent system," according to Hugging
