Spes Pauperum Foundation- SPFI Microfinance NGO, Inc. commemorated its 25th Founding Anniversary today, July 20, 2026, with a Thanksgiving Mass presided over by Executive Director, Rev. Fr. Raymund D. Bagohin.
The celebration marked the Foundation's silver milestone following its official establishment on July 19, 2001, and served as a moment of thanksgiving for 25 years of serving poor and underserved communities through microfinance and development programs.
SPFI traces its roots to 1997, when the Diocesan Nutrition and Livelihood Apostolate (DNLA) formulated a phase-over plan to improve the socio-economic condition of marginalized families while ensuring the sustainability of its programs. In June 1998, DNLA launched the Bangko sa Kabus Development Project (BanKDeP), serving its first 155 clients through the Grameen Banking Methodology. As the program continued to grow, Spes Pauperum Foundation, Inc. (SPFI) was established on July 19, 2001, as a non-stock, non-profit organization registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
As SPFI commemorates 25 years of service, the Foundation honors the vision of its founders and the dedication of its officers, employees, partners, and clients who have helped advance its mission of bringing hope and opportunities to the communities it serves.
Celebrating 25 years of hope, service, and empowerment.

Bagohin, SPFI Executive Director, the SPFI International Education Program continues to transform the lives of Filipino students through faith-filled formation and international education opportunities.
As a celebration of God's countless blessings, a Thanksgiving Mass was held for the 2nd to 10th Batches of Minghsin University of Science and Technology (MUST) students, with Rev. Fr. Raymund D. Bagohin presiding over the Eucharistic Celebration.
The celebration was made even more meaningful by the presence of Sr. Luiza Dal Moro, MSCS, Superior General; Sr. Myrna Tordillo, MSCS, General Councilor for Apostolate; Sr. Noemie Digo, MSCS, Asia Delegate Councilor and Coordinator of the Migrants Ministry in the Diocese of Tagum; and Sr. Marcedita Placio Saboga-a, MSCS, Asia Delegate Superior and Executive Program Coordinator of the Minghsin University of Science and Technology Academe-Industry Collaboration Program for International Students (Filipino Students) under Taiwan's New Southbound Policy.
Today, we celebrate not only the achievements of our students but also the unwavering support of their parents, whose trust, sacrifices, and prayers have made these opportunities possible. Thank you for allowing SPFI to be part of your children's journey as they grow into globally competitive professionals.
As we continue this mission, SPFI remains steadfast in expanding opportunities for more aspiring Filipino students to access quality international education through strong global partnerships. May this celebration inspire more young people to pursue their dreams with courage and determination, knowing that with faith, hard work, and the support of their families, no dream is beyond reach.
Together, we give thanks for every blessing received and look forward to empowering even more students to become globally competent leaders who will make a meaningful difference in their families, communities, and the world.
