The 𝐁𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐮 𝐨𝐟 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐮𝐞 (𝐁𝐈𝐑) has officially launched 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐰𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐎𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐧 𝐊𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐝𝐨 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, inspecting businesses across the country, and they're not just checking physical stores anymore. Online businesses are now covered too.

During the nationwide operation:
▪️419 cases were targeted with 5-day VAT Compliance Notices covering an estimated ₱742.1 million in potential tax exposure.
▪️132 Closure Orders were implemented after businesses failed to comply despite being given multiple opportunities to correct their deficiencies.

Before a business is temporarily closed, the BIR follows a strict compliance process, including:
✅ Surveillance and validation
✅ Issuance of statutory notices
✅ Time to register the business
✅ Time to issue proper invoices/receipts
✅ Time to file required tax returns
✅ Time to settle outstanding tax obligations

The BIR emphasized that enforcement is the last resort, following its "𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐲. 𝐄𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐎𝐧𝐥𝐲 𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐍𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐫𝐲." approach under the C.H.A.T. Drive (Counsel, Help, and Assist Taxpayers). Businesses that complied before the closure order were able to avoid being shut down.

⚠️ 𝐎𝐧𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐝𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐛𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐞𝐱𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐭. Oplan Kandado now covers digital sellers as well, and the BIR may implement online takedown mechanisms where authorized by law for businesses that deliberately refuse to comply.

The campaign will continue year-round, so staying compliant isn't something to postpone.
