Got a 1000-Piso polymer banknote? Here’s how you can keep it CLEAN and STRONG so that, with proper handling, it will last 2 to 5 times longer than paper banknotes.

❌ DO NOT write or put marks on the banknote
❌ DO NOT excessively fold or crumple the banknote
❌ DO NOT cut, put holes, or staple them
❌ DO NOT damage or remove any of its security features
❌ DO NOT iron them
❌ DO NOT expose the banknote to high temperatures or place it in an open flame
❌ DO NOT expose the banknote to toxic chemicals

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) has encouraged the public to deposit their savings in formal accounts instead of keeping them at home.

“The unnecessary accumulation of banknotes and coins prevents Philippine currency from being recirculated and used as payment instrument,” BSP Governor Benjamin Diokno said.

The BSP said that storing banknotes and coins in containers such as jars, barrels, plastic bottles, and cabinets “hampers the efficient circulation of currency, causing an artificial shortage.”
