It hit me hard.
Here in the Philippines, so many of us grew up seeing our parents rely on their kids in their later years. We call it ๐ช๐ฉ๐๐ฃ๐ ๐ฃ๐ ๐ก๐ค๐ค๐, and we do it out of love. But I've also seen how heavy that love can become when a young professional has to choose between building their own family and supporting their parents' daily needs, medicines, and bills.
This reminded me of something I truly believe as a financial planner:
Our children should visit us because they want to, not because they have to send money.
They should be able to dream, travel, invest, and raise their own families without guilt.
Retirement planning is not selfish. It's one of the most loving things you can do for the people you'll one day leave behind. ๐
So let me ask you gently:
If you stopped working today, who would pay for your needs?
If the answer makes you pause, let's talk. It's never too early, and it's not too late to start.
Send me a message and let's plan a retirement that gives both you and your children freedom.
