Our team kicked off our street education sessions in Tondo, Quiapo, and Delpan during January with the help of youth facilitators and parent volunteers. Children took part in interactive activities on water, sanitation, and hygiene, with sessions designed to support their everyday health and safety. Meals were also provided at every session.

On January 24 and 25, youth facilitators from our Manila, Laguna, and Quezon centers spent two days at Bahay Tuluyan’s Tala Camp & Eco-Retreat for Youth Facilitators Training. The training focused on communication, teamwork, and leadership to help them lead child rights education and other activities for children in their centers and communities. 🌿

Bahay Tuluyan will be joining the UN General Assembly Side Event on “A Child-Centred Response to the Sexual Exploitation of Street Children” later, 14 October (9:30–11:00 a.m. EST / 9:30–11:00 p.m. PH time).
The event will highlight how children in street situations can be at the center of global action to end sexual exploitation and abuse. It will also launch a new report by the UN Special Rapporteur on the Sale, Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse of Children, Mama Fatima Singhateh.
We’re proud that our youth will take part in the child-led session, bringing their voices and experiences to this important global platform.

Bahay Tuluyan calls for justice and due process for all the children taken into custody by government agencies.
On the arrest of children in the September 21 protests:
We strongly condemn the excessive force and violent acts committed against children during the September 21 protests.
These children, who come from backgrounds and experiences that no child should endure, deserve guidance and protection, not police brutality.
We call for the enforcement of laws that uphold the rights of children.
We demand an independent, thorough, and impartial investigation to hold those who abused the law accountable for the violent acts committed against children.
