âI canât give up my w**e nightsâŚâ
Sabi ng isang student during our session sa Build Your Budget.
I told her, âYou donât have to.â
Most of the time ang misconception about budgeting eh kelangan mong mag-cut sa lahat at tipirin ang sarili mo lagi.
Itâs the complete opposite. What I find effective for myself and all of my clients is to prioritize things that matter to you and give you joy. Sa ibang bagay ka mag cut.
Even one of my clients na nagbabayad ng 7-digit debt ay ni-remind ko about that. She didnât have to give up her morning coffee runs and right now, sheâs almost debt-free after 2.5 years.
Include joy sa inyong budget para di ka mawalan ng gana harapin ang finances mo đ
So ngayong malapit na ang pay day, whatâs the one thing youâre going to include in your budget for the month?

Nung nasa Manila pa ako, tina-target ko talaga tumira malapit sa UP Diliman kasi kahit papaano malapit sa nature.
Pero di naman ganun kadali maglipat at syempre magastos so I kept on postponing that plan.
Little did I know na may ibang plano pala ang universe for me. I eventually got married and had to move. Guess what kung saan?!
Near UP pero sa LB na... which is even better! â¨
Di ko inakala na after living in a concrete jungle for a decade eh possible naman palang mkapag-relocate sa lugar na napapaligiran ng mga puno at may fresh air.
Wdym walking distance lang ang running oval, pickleball courts, wet market and hospitals?! The community is also great may pa free yoga every Saturday and I can hike sa Mt. Makiling kung kelan ko trip!
Sobrang laking bagay talaga ng area of residence mo for your health and overall well being. I'm glad I waited.
Minsan talaga parang hindi binigigay sayo yung hiling mo kasi ang sinasabi sa 'yo ay "Wait ka lang, I have something better for you!"

Collection agencies donât want you to know these. Not because itâs illegal but because they profit more when you stay in the dark. Business is business sabi nga đŹ
Hereâs how it usually goesâŚ
You take on debt. You fall behind. A collector calls, sounding urgent kaya parang wala ka nang choice kundi bayaran agad kung ano man ang sabihin nila.
But hereâs what they wonât tell you:
1ď¸âŁ They bought your debt often for a fraction of the original amount. That means thereâs real room to negotiate a lower settlement. Older, messier debt usually means a bigger discount, which means more room for you to negotiate.
2ď¸âŁ Interest isnât always fixed. In many cases, it can be adjusted, especially if youâre willing to have the conversation. Theyâd rather get paid something now than chase the full amount for years.
3ď¸âŁ You need to document â every call, every text, every verbal âagreementâ. Wala kang proteksyon kung wala kang record. BSP and SEC rules actually limit when and how collectors can contact you, no calls before 6AM or after 10PM, no harassment or public shaming. Every log is potential protection if they cross the line.
4ď¸âŁ And the biggest myth of all? That ignoring the calls makes the problem disappear. It doesnât. Interest keeps growing. Penalties pile up. Tapal system ay hindi effective in the long-term, lalo ka lamg malulubog.
So ngayon, mas maalam ka na. And once you know, the game changes. Hindi nalang sila ang may control ng situation. You are not as helpless as you think.

May mga kilala ako who earns over âą100,000 a month but still feel like theyâre always catching up.
At the same time, I know people earning around âą30,000 a month who have savings, no debt, and sleep peacefully at night because they know exactly where every peso is going.
The difference isnât their income. Itâs how they handle what they have.
Because if you donât have a system, a bigger salary doesnât automatically create a better financial life. It often creates a more expensive one.
Lifestyle inflation is real. As our income grows, our definition of ânormalâ grows with it.
Dati twice a week lang then suddenly, take out coffee becomes a daily habit.
Ok ka naman dati sa prepaid load but now postpaid gadget upgrade became easier to justify.
The online checkouts become less painful.
The monthly subscriptions quietly multiply.
Wala namang masama doon.
The problem is when your spending grows just as fast as your income (or faster pa nga).
Thatâs why some people earn twice as much todayâŚ
Yet still feel the same financial stress they felt years ago.
Iâm not saying you shouldnât aim for a bigger salary. Please do.
Build your career.
Negotiate that raise.
Scale that business.
Find that extra source of income.
But while youâre doing that, donât ignore the skill that actually creates long-term financial security.
Learning how to manage the money you already have.
Because if you can confidently handle âą30,000âŚ
Youâll be far more prepared to handle âą100,000.
And thatâs the question I want to leave you with today.
Instead of just asking, âHow can I earn more?â
Try asking, âAm I handling what I already earn well?â
Because that answer will tell you far more about your financial future than your next paycheck ever will.
