More than 21,000 American women are diagnosed with ovarian cancer every year. Sadly only 20% of ovarian cancer cases are caught early. It doesn't present with many symptoms and when it does, it is usually farther advanced. Currently there are no screening tests that can catch ovarian cancer at an earlier stage. Some of the earlier symptoms are vague and many women brush off as something else. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms more than 12 times a month, you should get to your doctor right away. Bloating, fatigue, abdominal pain or pressure, nauseau, gassiness, feeling unusually full after eating, changes in bowel habits, bladder changes, lower back pain, menstrual changes or painful in*******se. Risk factors include: a strong family history of ovarian or breast cancer. Mutation in BRCA1 OR BRCA2 genes. Family or personal history of breast cancer in BOTH breasts or being of the Ashkenazi Jewish heritage. Know your risks and be vigilant and aware when it comes to symptoms.
