Happy Saturday, everyone!

Ang dami naming pinagdaanan lately.

My daughter had dengue and was admitted for almost a week, tapos syempre pagbalik ni ate girl sa work - madami dami tayong backlogs na hahabulin. Ngarag as in ngarag talaga dahil we have bills to pay! 👊🏻

Work from home mommy ako kaya yung stress nagpapile up na rin sakin. Bihira din akong magkaroon ng me time sa totoo lang, palagi kong hawak ang phone, ipad at laptop sa dami ng kausap ko.

Tapos may mga oras na hindi maiiwasan na nangungulit din yung anak mo, pero for me, once na ginagawa na niya yun - it’s a sign that she needs me. She’s demanding my attention kasi baka masyado na naman akong focus sa trabaho. Kaya once maramdaman kong kailangan na niya ako, immediately dinadrop ko lahat ng ginagawa ko at naguusap kami, or nagbabasa ako ng books with her, we watch her favorite educational vlogs, or nagmemerienda kami together. ❤️ Ang bilis bilis lang ng mga araw, mamaya lang hindi na niya ako kukulitin, kasi ako na mangungulit sa kanya.

This is my favorite photo for the week - late night na to kaya puyat moments ko ito. Pero this time, hindi siya nagseek ng attention. Lumapit siya sakin kasi she handed over Pororo (yung penguin) para daw may kasama ako at ka-hug while working. Precious no?

Kapag mommy ka na, despite your personal struggles, yung mga anak talaga natin ang magpapalakas ng loob natin to go through all those **masakit sa dibdib*** na moments.

Social distancing vs. Social Isolation

A parenting in pandemic story.

My child is holed at home.

Yes. 2 months after we fought covid19,
I became very anxious and reluctant to go out. Ayoko na ulit maranasan ang nangyari sa amin, palaging nasa utak ko ang fear of reinfection. Lalo na because of Zinnia.

Since September, I only went out twice —- just to buy essentials and groceries. Mabilisan pa. As much as possible, I want to limit my exposure at iniiwasan ko talaga ang crowded places kahit sa loob ng mall.

Kaya lang may nakalimutan ako...
How about my child’s feelings?
How about her emotions?

Last week, nung paalis na si Momah (her grandma) for work. I saw my child whispering, “Hug! Hug!” while looking at her Momah (nakalabas na si Mommy ng pinto).

I called her, “Ma, hug daw si baby!”

Momah run to her and then Zinnia hugged and kissed her Momah tight, and hugged her once more. She bid goodbye at naiwan na ulit kaming dalawa sa bahay.

Seconds later... I was surprised!
Nakita ko si Zinnia nakatingin sakin...
“Inya? Inya?” (Meaning her name 😅)

She’s pointing to herself as she asks the question with a sad face. Tinatanong niya ako bakit hindi siya kasama ni Momah.

Nahabag ako.
I realized na sa sobrang pag-iingat ko sa kanya, nakalimutan kong mayroon din siyang feelings.

Nakalimutan ko rin na hindi ko dapat ipagkait ang pagbuo niya ng social skills dahil lang sa takot ko.

Kagaya ng sabi sa nabasa ko, “Social distancing should not mean social isolation”. They need quality time to explore the world too! Pero siyempre double and triple na pag-iingat dapat! Covid is still there!

Kaya this morning, I woke up at 5:30 am!
Ginising ko sila ni Momah, dressed up quick, nasa Taal Basilica na kami ng 6 am - yes sobrang aga para kakaunti ang tao. And I am so happy to see her run outdoors! Sobrang saya niya! Success!

Sigaw siya ng sigaw ng “Wowwww!!!” 🥺

And ang reaksyon ng tao sa paligid...
“Ang likot naman niyan!!!”
“Napakataas naman ng energy ni baby!” 🤣

Parenting tip: Do not forget to be sensitive, hindi pa kayang sabihin ng mga anak natin at an early age ang mga nararamdaman nila. Let’s also create safe routines and activities for them so they can still explore, para din they can become resilient!

Ugaliin din natin to tell our kids that we can overcome this pandemic soon! Tayo ang magseset ng positivity sa kanila para maacknowledge natin ang fears at worries nila. Matatapos din ito! Let’s always seek God for guidance! Ang hirap maging magulang sa panahon ngayon!

Mommy Moments.

Scenario 1.

Sobrang busy ko last Monday at inabot na ako ng gabi for work. Si Zinnia umakyat na sa kwarto at sinundo ako for dinner.

She’s pulling me out of my desk!
Sabi niya... “Mommy, eat.”

What! That’s my 1 yr old thinking about me! 🥰

Scenario 2.

One morning, kakagising lang namin at sobrang hyper na agad niya! And so sa kakulitan niya, she’s holding this thing that I use for organizing drawers, at tinamaan niya ako sa braso...

Siyempre nag-react ako, I said “Ouch anak!!!”

And her reaction?
Nagulat siya.
So tumigil siya and she told me in a very sweet and malambing voice!

“Soyi mommy” (Sorry, Mommy)

And she caressed my arm!

“Soyi, soyi”
She kept on repeating.

At palagi na siyang nagsosorry everytime!

Anak, I am so lucky to be your mom!
We are so lucky ikaw ang anak namin.
I love you so much!
Para kang hindi 1 yr old!

Parents, lahat pala talaga ng ginagawa natin naaabsorb ng mga anak natin. I only told her once that she needs to be sorry kapag may nasasaktan siya. Hindi ko akalain na naiintindihan na niya. Our children are our reflections. Kaya talagang dapat responsible tayo. 👍🏻
