𝗟𝗢𝗢𝗞 | DTI Negosyo Center Toril Equips Mothers and Aspiring Entrepreneurs Through “How to Start a Business” Seminar

DAVAO CITY — The Department of Trade and Industry-Davao City Field Office (DTI-DCFO), through Negosyo Center Toril, successfully conducted the seminar entitled "𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗮 𝗕𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀” on May 10, 2026, at Talomo Barangay Hall, in partnership with the Talomo NHS Alumni Association as part of its 𝗠𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿’𝘀 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹: 𝗔𝗹𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗡𝗮𝗻𝗮𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲.

The activity aimed to empower mothers and aspiring entrepreneurs by providing entrepreneurial learning opportunities and practical business development insights. A total of 51 participants attended the seminar.

𝗠𝗶𝗿𝗮 𝗙𝗹𝗼𝗿 𝗥. 𝗠𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗿, Project Development Assistant, provided an overview of DTI programs and services, highlighting business registration assistance, entrepreneurship training programs, and government support services available for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

Meanwhile, 𝗕𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗝𝗮𝗻𝗲 𝗝. 𝗠𝗼𝗷𝗶𝗰𝗮, Special Operations Officer I discussed the topic “How to Start a Business,” focusing on identifying business opportunities, developing an entrepreneurial mindset, and understanding the importance of planning, marketing, and customer service in building a successful enterprise.

Through the activity, participants gained fundamental knowledge and practical insights on entrepreneurship while strengthening their awareness of the various programs and services offered by DTI.

𝗟𝗢𝗢𝗞 | The DTI Davao City Field Office successfully conducted the two-day training entitled “𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗠𝗦𝗠𝗘 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗕𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗔𝗜, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗗𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴” on April 29–30, 2026 at the Negosyo Center Toril, Toril Poblacion, Davao City, with 25 existing MSMEs in attendance.

The training commenced with 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁, 𝗠𝗶𝗿𝗮 𝗙𝗹𝗼𝗿 𝗠𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗿, who presented DTI Programs and Services and discussed Gender and Development (GAD), emphasizing inclusivity and equal opportunities in business.

On Day 1, 𝗠𝘀. 𝗝𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗙𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 (𝗗𝗜𝗖𝗧) discussed branding fundamentals and visual identity development. Participants were guided on logo creation, color selection, and brand consistency using Canva and AI-powered tools. MSMEs were also introduced to platforms such as ChatGPT and Google Workspace to enhance productivity, communication, and content creation.

On Day 2, 𝗠𝘀. 𝗜𝗺𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲 𝗩𝗮𝗻 𝗟𝗮𝘀𝗾𝘂𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗗𝗜𝗖𝗧 facilitated sessions on digital marketing strategies, focusing on brand visibility, social media engagement, and effective content planning. Participants engaged in hands-on activities using Canva and Gamma AI in developing marketing materials and presentations.

The activity strengthened MSME competitiveness by enhancing branding capabilities, promoting AI adoption, and improving digital marketing skills, equipping participants with practical tools to expand market reach and improve business operations in a digital-driven economy.
