BIR SUSPENDS FIELD AUDITS, LOA ISSUANCE OVER COMPLAINTS

JUST IN: Bureau of Internal Revenue Commissioner Charlito Martin Mendoza has suspended all field audits and operations — including the issuance of Letters of Authority and mission orders — following complaints of misuse.

This comes shortly after Sen. Erwin Tulfo filed a resolution seeking a Blue Ribbon probe into alleged widespread corruption within the BIR, including the use of LOAs to extort money from businesses.
