In 1915, Vicente F. Fabella made history as the first Filipino Certified Public Accountant after passing the board examination and earning his Certificate in Public Accountancy in Wisconsin, USA.
A year after, in 1916, he returned in the Philippines and became an accounting and auditing instructor in the University of the Philippines and opened his own accounting firm, โVicente Fabella and Company.โ Then in 1919, he founded and was the President of the Far Eastern College of Accounts, Commerce and Finance, which he later renamed as Jose Rizal College in 1922 until it became Jose Rizal University in 2000 when it was granted university status.
Fabella became an important figure in elevating the status of accountancy profession in the Philippines, even became one of the foundations of the CPA Law in the country.
