If your business has recently invested in new assets, or you're planning to, it's worth knowing about Investment Boost.
Investment Boost allows eligible businesses to claim an upfront 20% tax deduction on the cost of qualifying new business assets, while continuing to claim depreciation on the remaining value. In simple terms, it brings forward part of the tax deduction, which can help reduce taxable income and improve cash flow when you're investing in your business.
For depreciable assets, Investment Boost generally applies to qualifying new assets that are first available for use on or after 22 May 2025.
It can apply to a range of assets, including machinery, equipment, work vehicles and other qualifying business assets, so it's worth checking whether your purchases qualify before filing your income tax return.
đ The key is making sure eligible assets are identified and treated correctly in your tax return. It's an opportunity that's easy to overlook if you're not aware of it.
If you're unsure whether your purchases qualify, or how Investment Boost applies to your business, we're happy to help. Give us a call today on 04 970 1182.

No one starts a business because they love thinking about tax. đ¤
But a little planning now can make a big difference later.
Good tax planning is about understanding whatâs coming, making the most of the deductions and opportunities available to you, and avoiding unexpected tax bills.
It can help you:
⢠Keep more cash available in your business
⢠Make better decisions about spending and investment
⢠Take advantage of deductions youâre entitled to
⢠Feel more in control of your cashflow
The key is not waiting until year-end to start thinking about it.
At AAF, we work with businesses throughout the year to help them understand their tax position, prepare for whatâs ahead and make informed decisions along the way.
Tax is much easier to manage when you can see it coming.
Want to get ahead of your tax planning? Get in touch with our team on 04 970 1182.

Working hard and building a profitable business aren't always the same thing.
Many business owners only realise this after months of staying busy, working hard, and doing everything "right"... but still not seeing the results they expected.
Being busy doesn't always mean your business is performing as well as it could be. Profitability comes from understanding what your numbers are really telling you.
A financial review can provide that clarity by showing what's driving profit, what's holding it back, and where your biggest opportunities lie. When you understand your numbers, it's much easier to make confident business decisions.
Not sure what your numbers are really telling you? Our team can help you uncover the story behind the numbers, identify opportunities for improvement, and give you the confidence to focus on what matters most.

Struggling with provisional tax? There may be a smarter, more flexible way to manage it.
For many business owners, provisional tax can be difficult to manage...especially when cashflow changes throughout the year.
That's where tax pooling through TMNZ can help.
Tax pooling gives businesses more flexibility when managing provisional tax. It can help reduce exposure to Inland Revenue interest and penalties if tax has been underpaid or paid late, while also providing options to spread payments over time to ease cashflow pressure.
Potential benefits include:
â Greater flexibility around tax payment timing
â Improved cashflow management
â Reduced Inland Revenue interest costs compared with standard underpayment interest
â Support if you've missed a provisional tax payment or underestimated your tax liability
Tax pooling isn't the right solution for every business, but if provisional tax is putting pressure on your cashflow, it's worth exploring.
đ Get in touch with our team to find out whether tax pooling could be the right fit for your business.
