We had an incredible night last week celebrating our Chartered Accountants at the Bay of Plenty Gala Dinner.
We're proud to recognise some fantastic milestones. Congratulations to Luke Hanna and Sam Gordon on achieving their Chartered Accountant qualification. This is a significant milestone and reflects their hard work, commitment, and dedication to the profession.
We're also celebrating Karen Brock, our Associate, who this year marks 25-year milestone award as a Chartered Accountant. Karen has made an outstanding contribution to our firm, our clients, and the accounting profession throughout her career.
Finally, we recognise Eric Coleman, former Director of Baker Tilly Staples Rodway Tauranga, who has received his 60-Year CA milestone award, reflecting a lifetime dedicated to the accounting profession. During his 35 years with the firm, Eric mentored many aspiring Chartered Accountants, including Karen as she worked towards her CA qualification.
Congratulations to Luke, Sam, Karen, and Eric on these incredible achievements.

Today, we celebrate the retirement of Director Neville Grey after an incredible 53 years with the firm. He will still be popping in to finish off some tasks.
Neville joined in May 1973 and became a partner in 1987. Over his career, he has been a trusted advisor to many, particularly in the agricultural and horticultural sectors, and a valued mentor to staff and directors alike.
He has given generously of his time in many organisations and charitable organisations outside the firm.
We thank Neville for his dedication, knowledge, and contribution over the years, and wish him all the very best for the next chapter.

We loved being part of the Great Rotary Duck Race on the Tauranga waterfront again this year. With so many cleverly decorated ducks and plenty of sunshine, it was a brilliant day out for an even better cause. Proceeds from the race support local schools and Tauranga Te Papa Rotary community projects that give back where it matters most. Our office duck made a stylish splash, floating proudly and representing the firm 🐤☀️

We put out a corporate challenge to firms in our network for the Marra Sprint event on the weekend. While race day conditions were great, weather in the lead up meant the swim leg was replaced, turning the event into a duathlon (run–bike–run).
We had 17 teams enter the challenge, and our three Baker Tilly Staples Rodway teams put in strong performances, finishing 8th, 9th and 10th in our corporate challenge.
Congratulations to Craigs Number 1, who took out the win in our challenge with an impressive time of 50:07, followed by KPMG Defenders in 52:10 and Lysaght Bikers in 55:20.
It was fantastic to see so many businesses getting involved, and a big thanks to KPMG for generously shouting the winning team a morning tea. We’re already looking forward to an even bigger competition next year.

We’re proud to stand Bay Strong 💙💛
Today, our team wore blue and yellow to show support for our local community following the recent extreme weather events across the Bay.
Our thoughts are with everyone who has been affected. If you’re able to help further, donations can be made to the Western Bay Emergency Response Fund to support those impacted.
Together, we are Bay Strong.
