Most businesses hand digital stuff to IT and call it a tech project. That's a mistake.
The businesses that come out of a tech shift with a stronger team all do one thing: they talk to the people whose roles are changing before the change, disruption and pressure hits, not after.
Left too late, the same shift that could build up your team and improve their jobs instead just makes people nervous, watching to see if the business is building something to replace them.

In Honour of Noah ❤️
To support Noah's Legacy and the Child Cancer Foundation, donate here: https://wigwednesday.org.nz/o/noahs-legacy
A little boy who touched so many lives, and a legacy that can help families for years to come.
Noah was a much-loved Taupō boy and part of the MBP family who sadly lost his battle with cancer last month.
While no words can ever truly capture the heartbreak of losing a child, Noah’s family, friends and our wider Taupō community want to honour his life in a way that can make a difference to other families facing the unimaginable journey of childhood cancer.
That’s why MBP is joining forces with Mediaworks & PAK’nSAVE Taupō to raise as much as we can for the Child Cancer Foundation, in Noah’s honour.
The Child Cancer Foundation supports children with cancer and their families through some of the hardest days of their lives. Providing practical, emotional and financial support when families need it most.
For us, this is about creating something positive from an incredibly difficult loss. A positive legacy for Noah that means his name can continue to make a difference, helping other children and families who find themselves walking a path that no family should ever have to face.
Every donation, no matter how big or small, will help.
By donating in Noah’s honour, you’re not only supporting the Child Cancer Foundation, you’re helping keep Noah’s memory alive and allowing his legacy to reach families who need a helping hand.
From his family and everyone who loved him, thank you for helping us honour Noah and create a legacy in his name.
For Noah and for every child and family facing cancer. ❤️

Life's too short to spend it working with the wrong customers. 🙌
When you're starting out, you often take whatever work comes through the door, and that's completely understandable. But as your business grows, one of the most powerful things you can do is get clear on who your ideal client actually is.
Not just anyone who'll pay an invoice. The people you do your best work for. The ones you genuinely enjoy working with. The ones who value what you do and are a pleasure to deal with.
Because when you're clear on who that is, everything gets easier.
Your marketing gets sharper, because you're speaking directly to the right people instead of trying to appeal to everyone. You can say no to wrong-fit work with confidence, knowing it frees you up for the right work. And the work itself becomes more enjoyable, more rewarding, and usually more profitable too.
Here's the part most people miss though. Your ideal client isn't fixed. As your business grows and changes, as your skills sharpen and your focus shifts, the people you're best placed to serve will change too. So this isn't a one-time exercise. It's one worth revisiting regularly.
🗒️ So here's your task for the week:
Write down the three or four traits of the clients you'd happily fill your books with. Then use that as your filter for the work you chase, the work you take, and the work you gracefully turn down.
Who are your favourite clients to work with, and what do they have in common?

It's spring. New growth, new beginnings, and a few changes of our own on the way. 👀
We know something you don't know... yet (but you can probably guess 😅).
See you next week.

Two compliance changes landed on the radar this week, and they taught the same lesson. 📋
One was a privacy deadline that passed on 3 August, catching out businesses who had no idea it applied to them (the news focused on big Supermarkets, the rules apply way wider). The other is a health and safety overhaul that doesn't take effect until 2027, giving everyone plenty of time to prepare.
Same type of change. Very different experiences for the businesses involved. And the only real difference is preparation.
Here's the thing about compliance. It rarely arrives without warning. The rules get announced, the dates get set, and the guidance follows. The businesses that get caught out usually aren't caught by the rule itself, they're caught by not knowing it was coming.
You don't need the best lawyers or the most expensive advisors to stay on the right side of this stuff. You just need to not be surprised. A simple "what's on my radar" habit does most of the work: know what's changing, know roughly when, and give yourself time to get ready.
So this week, take ten minutes. What rules affect your industry? What deadlines are coming? What did you file under "deal with later" that later has now arrived?
Getting ahead of it is almost always cheaper, calmer and easier than scrambling to catch up.
What's sitting on your compliance radar right now?
