We warmly welcome all East Cape community members to attend the East Cape Relief Day in Te Araroa on Friday, 31 July, at Te Rimu (Airstrip).

This day is for all to attend – Nau mai, haere mai!

We are looking forward to hosting you all, alongside our valued partners and sponsors, for a day of connection, great company, kōrero, aroha, laughter, and support.

This event has been organised to bring our communities together following the adverse weather event experienced earlier this year.

We are incredibly grateful to our sponsors and partners whose generosity and commitment have made this day possible. Their support has enabled us to create an opportunity for our communities to come together, reconnect, and access support in a welcoming environment.

There will also be a presence from Te Rūnanganui o Ngāti Porou and its subsidiaries, including Ngāti Porou Oranga, Toitū Ngāti Porou, and Nāti Growth, throughout the day. Representatives will be available to connect with whānau, answer questions, and share information about the services, programmes, and support available.

We would also like to sincerely thank everyone for their patience. We acknowledge that it has taken longer than anticipated to bring this day together, and we appreciate your understanding and support throughout the process.

We look forward to spending the day with you all and celebrating the strength, resilience, and spirit of our East Cape communities.

Reception Has Moved | Te Tini o Porou

Please be advised that Reception has temporarily relocated to the Paikea Building while refurbishment works are underway at Te Tini o Porou.

If you're visiting us, please head to the Paikea Building, located on the right-hand side of the driveway (at the front right of Puhi Kai Iti), where our Reception team will be happy to assist you.

This temporary relocation will remain in place while building improvements, including roof replacement works, are completed.

Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time. We look forward to continuing to welcome and support you from our temporary reception.

Official Results – July 2026 Special General Meeting

Thank you to everyone who attended the Special General Meeting and to all eligible members who took the time to cast their vote.

Both Special Resolutions have been approved. The official results are outlined in the post below.

Please note that while most approved amendments are now in effect, the amendments relating to the Māori Fisheries Amendment Act 2024 will take effect on 26 July 2026. From that date, the final amended Te Rūnanganui o Ngāti Porou Trust Deed will become the operative governing document.

Congratulations to 35 Mai Tawhiti, a team that includes recipients of the Toitū Ngāti Porou Sport & Culture Grant, who are preparing to represent Aotearoa at the 2026 Waka Ama World Championships in Singapore.

As they take to the world stage, they will proudly carry the mana of their whānau, hapū, iwi, and communities with them.

The Toitū Ngāti Porou Sport & Culture Grant supports individuals and groups to deliver kaupapa that celebrate, strengthen, and advance our culture in alignment with the Toitū Ngāti Porou Trust Deed, creating positive outcomes for our people and communities.

We wish the team every success as they represent Aotearoa and Ngāti Porou with pride.
