Heads up employers, PAYE deductions are due 20 June.
As a small-to-medium employer, here's a quick checklist:
๐ File your employer schedule with IRD on time
๐ Pay the total deductions, PAYE, student loan, KiwiSaver, and child support
๐ Make sure any new employees have completed their IR330 tax code declaration
๐ Check that KiwiSaver contributions are correct for all staff. Late payments attract penalties and interest, it's not worth the stress.
Questions? We've got you.

We celebrated the end of the financial year with a little creativity. ๐บ
The team tried pottery, and let's just say some of us are better with spreadsheets than clay.
What a night. Grateful for this bunch.

Your first provisional tax instalment for FY27 isn't far away.
๐
Here's what you need to know:
๐น Most NZ businesses pay provisional tax in three instalments across the year.
๐น The standard method bases your payments on last year's tax, plus 5%.
๐น If your income has changed significantly, you may be able to use the estimation method instead, but get this wrong and IRD can charge use-of-money interest.
๐น The AIM method (for Xero or MYOB users) lets you pay as you earn, which can be great for cashflow.
Now is the right time to review your position and make sure you're not caught short.
We can help you choose the right method and plan ahead.

GST reminder ๐ข
If you're on a two-monthly filing cycle, your April - May GST return and payment is due 28 June. A few things to check before you file:
โ
All income has been captured for the period
โ
You've got receipts and records for your expenses
โ
Any zero-rated or exempt supplies are correctly coded
โ
Your bank account matches your records.
Don't leave it to the last minute, IRD late payment penalties add up fast.
Need help getting it sorted?

What does a useful financial forecast actually look like for a Kiwi SME, not a giant corporate? ๐ณ๐ฟ
If youโre running a business with around 5โ20 staff and $1Mโ$5M in revenue, your forecast doesnโt need to be complicated. It just needs to give you a clear view of three things:
โข When cash is really coming in (not just what Xero says youโre owed)
โข Whatโs going out in wages, materials, and overheads
โข How different scenarios โ like a quiet patch or a growth opportunity โ will hit your cash flow
Thatโs where a simple, practical financial forecast changes the game. Instead of being surprised by your bank balance, you can see 6โ12 months ahead and make decisions with confidence.
If youโd like a forecast built around how your business actually runs (not a generic template), our team can help you map out your cash flow and revenue so youโre planning, not guessing.

Most accountants will make sure your tax is filed and your books are tidy. That's the baseline.
But here's the thing, knowing your numbers are correct and actually using your numbers to make better decisions are two very different things.
We work with business owners across Auckland who are doing well on paper but still feel like they're guessing. Guessing whether to hire, whether to invest, whether they can afford to grow.
That's the gap business advisory fills.
At Monteck Carter, we go beyond the compliance work. We sit down with you, look at what's actually happening in your business, and help you figure out what to do next, with confidence.
Because your accountant should be doing more than looking in the rear-view mirror.
Want a more proactive relationship with your numbers?
Let's talk.

We're nearly halfway through the calendar year, how are your numbers tracking? ๐
A mid-year check-in is one of the simplest things you can do for your business. Here's what to look at:
๐ฐ Cashflow - are you collecting what you're owed?
๐ Revenue vs budget - are you ahead, behind, or on track?
๐ Expenses - have any crept up without you noticing?
๐งพ Tax obligations - are you putting enough aside for provisional tax?
You don't need to wait until year-end to course-correct.
The best time to adjust is now.

March year-end is behind us. โ
Now's the time to review how FY26 went and reset for FY27. A few things worth looking at right now:
๐ How did your actual revenue and expenses compare to your budget?
๐ Are there any outstanding invoices or bills that need tidying up?
๐ Have you talked to your accountant about any tax positions from FY26?
๐ What does your cashflow look like going into the second half of the year?
Small steps now make a big difference later. Need a hand?
We're here.
