KIWISAVER CHANGES 1 APRIL 2026

The NZ Government’s increasing the default contribution KiwiSaver rates for employees and employers to 3.5% (from 3%).

You can apply at IRD for a temporary rate reduction for a 3 month to 12 month period. This could be because you can’t afford the rate increase or want to save in other ways.

Next increase is to 4% on 1st April 2028.
