Plain English: a credit rating is a report card telling lenders around the world how risky it is to give a country money. Nigeria’s score improved a bit, and three separate agencies, S&P, Fitch, Moody’s, all agree.

Great news, sure. Here’s what it actually changes though: mostly cheaper borrowing for government, and eventually big companies. For the small business owner scrolling this right now, not much yet. Inflation’s still high. Local loans are still a fight to get.

Our take: don’t build your business plans around a headline. Focus on what’s actually in your control, cash flow, customers, your local market.
