I have received a lot of requests to help sort some tax matters from businesses and individuals.

What I noticed is that many ignore tax correspondences and calls by the relevant tax authority.

These people and organizations came (too late) to sort resolve their tax matters because they felt they don't have to feedback.

Please note if Nigerian Revenue Service or any subnational (Internal Revenue Service) writes you for call to file returns, an assessment, investigation or an audit, you are obliged to respond to that same correspondence to object with facts and figures or write to defer or shift your visit and attention to the matter officially.

Never you ignore tax correspondence from the Service as it can serve as an exhibit, rights to place the liability (ies) on your account or even the right to force a payment/lien on your account.

Engage a professional tax accountant or practitioner only .

Don't say I didn't do anything for you this month!

At we usually analyse our clients' debts and liabilities portfolio by asking to see terms and conditions, schedules, patterns and trends.

Imagine you are paying for penalties, fines, and interests for defaults, failures and wrong decisions that you are not getting values for or not tax deductible?

It means, you have negatively impacted the status of your business, affected its health, and further depleted your profits!

Look at failure to file annual returns.

Not paying staff early.
