🇲🇾 2026 NATIONAL DAY | KEY ANNOUNCEMENTS BY THE PRIME MINISTER
The Prime Minister announced several measures today covering businesses, motorists, youth, education and public healthcare.
For business owners, these are the key points to take note of:
🔹 1 | e-Invoice Exemption Threshold to Increase
Annual turnover threshold:
RM1 million → RM3 million
⚠️ The actual effective date, eligibility criteria and transition arrangements remain subject to the final guidelines to be issued by LHDN.
🔹 2 | Increased Financing & Grants for Micro Businesses
📌 Total financing for micro businesses in 2026 increased to RM6 billion
📌 RM200 million Geran Sejahtera MADANI allocated to support small businesses in purchasing equipment and improving their operations.
🔹 3 | Increased BUDI 95 / BUDI Diesel Quota
RON95:
200L → 300L
Pickup / Jeep Diesel:
300L → 400L
Expected to take effect as early as 1 September 2026.
🔹 4 | Free AI Programme for Youth
Malaysians aged 18–30 who complete the designated AI learning modules may receive 3 months of free AI subscription, with an initial target of 100,000 participants.
🔹 5 | Increased School Maintenance Allocation
The 2027 allocation for school repairs and facility improvements will increase to RM1.5 billion.
🔹 6 | Digitalisation of Public Healthcare
RM1 billion will be allocated for Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and WiFi facilities in public healthcare facilities, covering approximately 150 hospitals and 2,000 government clinics.
📌 IMPORTANT FOR BUSINESS OWNERS
For the e-Invoice announcement, businesses should not immediately stop their existing e-Invoice preparations based solely on today's announcement.
The actual implementation date, eligibility requirements and transition arrangements should only be confirmed once LHDN issues the official guidelines.
