📢 e-Invoice Update: Exemption Threshold Raised to RM3 Million

Good news for many Malaysian SMEs!

Under LHDN’s latest e-Invoice Guideline v4.8, businesses with annual income or sales below RM3 million are generally exempt from issuing e-Invoices — an increase from the previous RM1 million threshold.

But there’s an important catch. 👀

Eligibility doesn’t depend on your company’s revenue alone. Your shareholding and group structure may also affect whether the RM3 million exemption applies.

If your business has a non-individual shareholder or is part of a group of companies reaching the RM3 million threshold, you may still be required to implement e-Invoice.

💡 Business owners, HR and finance teams should review their company structure carefully and make sure they understand how the latest changes affect their compliance obligations.

Employers, have you registered your workplace with JTKSM? ⚠️

Under Section 63A of the Employment Act 1955, employers are required to register and submit information about their workplace to the Department of Labour Peninsular Malaysia (JTKSM).

Registration must be made within 90 days when an employer:

🏢 Starts a new business or operation
🤝 Takes over an existing business
📍 Changes the business name or workplace location

Failure to provide the required information — or providing false information — may constitute an offence and, upon conviction, could result in a fine of up to RM50,000.
