MFRS 107 ‘Statement of Cash Flows’ was introduced in 2001 and the accounting principles have remained largely unchanged since.
The increasing attention on an entity’s cash generation and liquidity position has led to greater focus on the statement of cash flows by financial statement users, regulators and other commentators. However, this additional focus and scrutiny has also highlighted some common errors and inconsistencies in the application of MFRS 107.

Last week, we hosted an intimate networking evening with our Japanese clients and business contacts, bringing everyone together for meaningful conversations and relationship building.
We were honoured to have Mr Daisuke Yamada, Global Head of the Japan Desk and Mr Takahiro Tsuji, Regional Head of the Japan Desk, who travelled from Japan and Thailand for our event. Their presence truly made the event even more meaningful.
The evening also marked the introduction of Mr Masataka Yokoyama, our new Japan Desk Director, who will succeed Mr Toshihiko Takagi in leading Grant Thornton Malaysia’s Japan Desk.
We also took the opportunity to bid farewell to Toshi-san and presented him with a token of appreciation in recognition of his contributions during his time in Malaysia.
Arigatou gozaimasu Toshi-san! We wish you all the best in your next chapter.

Post-Peak Staff Appreciation Cocktail Party ✨
After a demanding peak period, our Penang team came together for a well-deserved evening of relaxation, connection and celebration 🥳
With delicious food, refreshing cocktails and mocktails, everyone enjoyed a beautiful evening on the patio. Fun games and activities also brought plenty of laughter while giving colleagues an opportunity to interact and get to know one another better.
It was a wonderful way to recognise everyone’s hard work, reconnect with colleagues and enjoy some quality time together beyond our usual work routine.
