Thank you to everyone who joined our webinar on the Stamp Duty Self‑Assessment System (SAS), with over 1,500 participants from across the industry.

As Malaysia moves into the SAS era, organisations now bear greater responsibility for correctly assessing and declaring stamp duty. In this context, the Stamp Duty Special Voluntary Disclosure Programme 2026 (SDSVDP 2026) plays a critical role by providing taxpayers with an opportunity to regularise past under‑declarations, mitigate penalties and strengthen compliance ahead of potential audits.

The SDSVDP 2026 is applicable for agreements / instruments executed between 1 January 2023 to 31 December 2025 with the application for stamp duty and payment of stamp duty being completed on or before 30 June 2026.

The session focused on key implementation updates, audit focus areas and risk considerations, helping businesses better understand how to manage stamp duty obligations with greater confidence under SAS.

We thank our speakers, Chong Mun Yew and Michael Cheah Liat Sheng, for their practical insights, and appreciate the strong engagement from participants throughout the session.

Are you a seafarer or working offshore? Your income might not be as tax-free as you think.

In Malaysia, whether your seafarer's income is taxable or exempt depends on a few key factors:

✅ The type of vessel you work on
✅ Who operates the ship (Malaysian vs foreign company)
✅ Whether the operator is also the registered owner

The good news? You may qualify for a full tax exemption, but only if all conditions are met. Miss just one, and your income could become taxable.

👉 Swipe through to understand how your income is treated and what could affect your tax status.

We were pleased to participate in The Tuesday Club hosted by the Malaysian-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry, where our Tax Director, Michael Cheah, shared key updates on Capital Gains Tax with industry players.

The session provided a valuable platform for in-depth discussions on the practical implications of the expanded CGT framework, particularly in relation to share transactions, corporate restructuring and cross-border activities. As regulatory expectations continue to evolve, businesses are increasingly required to adopt a more structured and proactive approach to tax planning and compliance.

We appreciate the active engagement from participants throughout the session, and we hope the discussion provided valuable insights to help navigate the changing tax landscape with greater clarity and confidence.

Cyber risk today is not just about IT concerns, it is a business decision.

Most organisations are not lacking effort, but they are lacking clarity. Without a clear, structured view of where you stand, even the right investments can end up solving the wrong problems.

At Crowe, we work alongside organisations to bring structure, perspective and prioritisation into their risk management approach, so decisions are made with confidence, not assumptions.
