I want to be a kid again. Care free, no responsibilities, just enjoying life as it is. This picture was taken sometime during the Asian Financial crisis. At the time, I never understood what was like to be in the Financial Crisis. Lots of my dad’s colleagues were laid off and they become taxi drivers to make ends meet. Nobody was prepared, not even the government, let alone people like us.

I was lucky my parents are still able to work and provide food and shelter. Not only that I’m still able to play some computer games! Back then games weren’t as good as nowadays but I had more fun playing them back then as compared to today. Today, the situation is not much different than 20 years ago. Older generations who have experienced this are better prepared than our generation. Some of them have investments, accumulated a huge amount of savings to prepare for this kind of crisis. A lot of us understand that social and technical skills are the most important aspect in our lives, but fail to understand finance. Which is why we are struggling every day to make ends meet. This is why getting ourselves insured is important.

Insurance comes in many ways, car insurance, mortgage insurance, life insurance and the list goes on. However, the first thing that needs to be insured is our own self. Getting insured is like passing your responsibilities to someone else. Just like this kid, who his parents take all the responsibilities for him.
