WEEDS AND INSECTS

Feed comprises of 65-80% of the total production in fish farming. In an effort to reduce feeding cost here are some of the weeds and maggots that have been used successfully as feeds to fish species like tilapia and Catfish.

1.Azolla

Protein upto 35 %.
Can be added 5% in total feed or can replace 30% of fish meal or Soya meal.

2. Duckweed

Protein upto 43%.
Can be fed 10%-20% of total feed. Fish meal

3. Water hyacinth (Namasipuni)

Protein upto 40%
Can be fed upto 20-30% of diet.
Before feeding weeds ,it must be washed properly.

These weeds like hyacinth increase water oxygen and control algae growth.

4. Blacksoldier fly maggots

BSF Larvae are rich in a range of nutrients. Dried BSF larvae contain up to 50% protein, 35% fat (with an amino acid composition similar to fishmeal), 6% Calcium, 1.2% Phosphorus, 1% Magnesium, 0.3% sodium

BSF can replace fish meal 50%-100%

We have Azolla, duckweed and blacksoldier fly maggots broodstocks as well do provide training on blacksoldier fly farming
