On 22 July 2026, leaders from the private sector, financial institutions, conservation organizations, government, and development partners gathered in Nairobi for the "De-Risking Investments by Investing in Nature" Forum, jointly organised by Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA), Terrasos, Kenya Wildlife Conservancies Association, and EarthAcre, exploring how investing in nature can reduce business risk and unlock growth.
The event was graced by Carole Kariuki (CEO, KEPSA), Dr. John Wandaka (Ph.D) (Chair, KEPSA Environmental Sector Board), and Jane Ngige ( Agriculture Sector Network (ASNET)), alongside Mohanjeet Brar (EarthAcre), Juanita Lopez Pelaez (Terrasos), and KWCA's Gladys, Mercy, and Stanley. Dr. Kinyanjui J. Koimbori, PhD of KEPSA served as MC and panel moderator.
Carole Kariuki said investing in nature is now a strategic business imperative, not philanthropy, and highlighted Kenya's potential to lead in nature finance.
Christine Mwangi (BIOFIN - UNDP Biodiversity Finance Initiative) briefed participants on the TNFD framework for disclosing nature-related risks, followed by a panel with Owen Ombima (Safaricom PLC), Joseph Mathenge (Absa Bank Kenya Foundation), and Rose Mugo (Standard Chartered Bank) on mobilizing private capital for conservation.
Terrasos, KWCA, and EarthAcre showcased finance, community conservancy models, and tech-driven investment tools. The forum closed with a call for deeper collaboration to scale nature investment across Kenya and beyond.
