The Government of Maharashtra has recently updated the professional tax for female employees, increasing the gross wages limit to Rs. 25,000 w.e.f 1st April 2023. This move will provide relief to many women who were previously paying professional tax on their income.

As per the new rules, female employees who earn a gross salary of up to Rs. 25,000 per month will now have to pay a professional tax of Rs. 200 per month. However, in the month of February, the tax will be increased to Rs. 300. This is in line with the government's efforts to increase revenue collection and streamline tax payments.

Professional tax is a tax levied by the state government on the income earned by individuals working in various professions, trades, and employment. The tax amount varies from state to state, and the Maharashtra government has been revising the professional tax rates and slabs from time to time.

The new update by the Maharashtra government is a positive step towards ensuring that women are not burdened with excessive taxes on their income. The increase in the gross wages limit from Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 25,000 will provide relief to many women who were previously paying professional tax on their income.

In conclusion, the Government of Maharashtra's decision to increase the gross wages limit for female employees and revise the professional tax rates is a positive move. It will not only provide relief to women who were previously paying professional tax on their income but also help the government increase revenue collection. The move is expected to have a positive impact on the overall economy of the state in the long run.

Salary up to Rs 25000 Tax will be Nil
Salary above Rs 25000 Tax will be 200 p.m (in the month of Feb Rs 300).
