Partha had spent most of his working life building a successful business. Over the years, the business had become closely connected to the family's financial security.

His children were now at a different stage of life. They had their own careers, their own choices and their own ideas about what they wanted their future to look like.

That changed the conversation.

For Partha, the business had always been central to building the family's wealth. For the next generation, the question was becoming broader. How much of that wealth should remain connected to the business? How should it support the lives they were building? And how much freedom should each person have to make their own choices?

There was no single answer that would necessarily work for everyone.

That is often what makes conversations around family wealth difficult. The wealth may have been built through one person's decisions, but it eventually becomes part of several people's lives.

Before deciding what should happen to it, the family has to understand what each generation wants its future to look like.

When wealth moves across generations, what should remain the same and what should be allowed to change?

Before we learn how to manage money, we begin learning what money means to us.

Our early experiences often stay with us far longer than we realise. They shape what makes us feel secure, the risks we're willing to take and the financial decisions we make as life unfolds.

Financial planning isn't only about number crunching. It's equally about understanding the beliefs, experiences and emotions that shape our relationship with money. The more clearly we understand that relationship, the more intentionally we can make financial decisions that align with the life we're trying to build.

In this conversation, Prateek Patani, Senior Manager - Financial Planning at Ladder7 Wealth Planners, reflects on why financial security is deeply personal and why understanding what it truly means to us can change the way we approach financial planning.

We recently had the privilege of hosting Chief Bussiness Officer of Motilal Oswal Asset Management Company Ltd. Akhil Chaturvedi, at our office for an interaction with the team, and one message from the session stayed with us:

Success is not built overnight-it is the result of resilience, continuous learning, hard work, consistency, and the ability to turn challenges into opportunities.

A few lessons that resonated with me:
âś… Stay positive during difficult times. The ability to navigate challenges is what prepares you for future success.
âś… Turn setbacks into opportunities. Every challenge brings valuable lessons and a chance to grow.
âś… Never stop learning. No matter how experienced you become, learning keeps you relevant.
âś… Build strong relationships. Trust and credibility compound over time.
âś… Think long-term. Whether it's wealth, skills, or career growth, consistency creates results.
âś… Stay humble. Success is easier to sustain when humility remains constant.

One quote that we will carry forward:
"If you survive the bad times, you will enjoy the good times."

Grateful for the insights, experiences, and leadership lessons shared during the session. Looking forward to applying them in our own professional journey.

# Ladder7 Leadership Session
Wizdom

# # Guest Speaker: Ashish P. Somaiyaa, CEO, WhiteOak Capital
Ashish Somaiyaa's session was not a discussion about stock markets, products, or investment strategies alone. It was a reflection on careers, leadership, investor behaviour, communication, and the human side of wealth management.

# # A Career Built Through Curiosity, Not a Perfect Plan
He openly admitted that he never had a grand master plan for becoming a CEO. His experience serves as a reminder that flexibility and openness often matter more than rigid long-term planning.

# # Sales Is Not About Selling—It Is About Understanding
He challenged the stereotypical image of salespeople as loud, aggressive, and extroverted individuals. In his view, the best sales professionals are often thoughtful listeners who possess the ability to understand people and simplify complex ideas.

# # The Importance of Psychology in Investing
He remarked that stock markets may be cyclical, but investor behaviour is often "psychological."

He highlighted how investor flows frequently reveal prevailing market sentiment:
* During market booms, investors rush into sectors and themes that have already performed well.
* During periods of uncertainty, investors gravitate toward defensive or recently successful asset classes.
* The crowd often chases yesterday's winners.

# # Leadership: Moving from Individual Contributor to Leader
According to Ashish, leadership requires a shift in perspective:

* Individual contributors focus on their own performance.
* Leaders focus on the success of the team and the organization.

# # Transparency and Honest Feedback
Ashish emphasized that one of the greatest responsibilities of a leader is providing clarity.

Great leaders:
* Communicate expectations clearly.
* Provide timely feedback.
* Explain strengths and development areas honestly.
* Ensure team members understand how they are being evaluated.

Transparency, even when uncomfortable, ultimately helps people grow faster.

# # Demonstration Over Instruction

# # Key Takeaways for Ladder7
* Financial planning is ultimately about people, not products

An inspiring session, a room full of curious minds, and countless insights to reflect upon.
We were privileged to host Ajit Menon, Former CEO of PGIM India Asset Management, for an engaging conversation that went far beyond finance and investing.
From leadership and culture-building to behavioural finance, investor psychology, innovation, retirement planning, and generational thinking, the session challenged us to rethink conventional wisdom and embrace the power of differentiated thinking.
One insight that particularly resonated with us:
“Retirement is the only financial goal for which you don’t get a loan.”
A powerful reminder that successful financial planning is as much about behaviour and discipline as it is about numbers.
Thank you, Ajit, for sharing your experiences, wisdom, and perspectives with such authenticity and depth. The session left us with valuable lessons on leadership, long-term thinking, continuous learning, and purposeful living.

đź’Ľ High Income. Busy Lifestyle.
But… is your wealth really growing?

Many high-earning professionals fall into a silent financial trap — rising salaries, rising expenses, rising EMIs… but little real wealth creation.

True financial freedom is not built by income alone.
It is built through:
âś” Smart financial decisions
âś” Disciplined investing
âś” Tax efficiency
âś” Long-term planning

Don’t let success on paper become stress in reality.
Your income should work for you, not disappear quietly over time.

The article highlights why even top executives struggle to create lasting wealth — and what can be done differently.

An Evening of Introspection, Presence & Meaningful Reflection

In a world constantly buzzing with notifications, deadlines, and distractions, yesterday evening gave us something truly rare - the opportunity to pause and reconnect with ourselves. We had the privilege of hosting Mr. Priten Bangdiwala, Founder & Lead Mentor at Founder Ashram, for an insightful session on the “Power of Introspection.”

For one hour, our team consciously disconnected from gadgets - no mobile phones, no laptops and focused entirely inward. It was amazing to experience how powerful silence, introspection, and presence can be when we allow ourselves to slow down.

Through the thoughtfully curated questions, spread across two phases, the session encouraged us to reflect/ introspect deeply on both personal and professional aspects of life.

The exercise pushed us to revisit meaningful moments, question our perspectives, and become more aware of ourselves beyond our daily routines.

What made the session truly impactful was its simplicity and depth.

During the interactive Q&A, Mr. Bangdiwala shared profound insights on practicing introspection in everyday life and how mindfulness can help us lead more fulfilling lives.

One of the most powerful takeaways from the session was: “Attaining nirvana requires two things - Love & Presence.”

Love yourself first. And be fully present in the moment.

Another thought that stayed with us:
“Spirituality is not about making the future better; it is about making the present blissful and rewarding.”

Sometimes, the most meaningful growth begins not by looking outward, but by looking within.
Heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Priten Bandiwala for such a short yet deeply impactful session that left all of us with valuable reflections to carry forward.
