The GST portal has now started auto-populating turnover details reported in earlier years’ Income Tax Returns.

👉 This means that the department can now directly view whether a taxpayer’s turnover has crossed the threshold limit of ₹20 lakhs / ₹40 lakhs, making them liable for GST registration.

⚠️ Businesses who have not yet taken GST registration despite crossing the prescribed turnover limit may soon find themselves under the radar.

This integration highlights the growing use of data analytics and cross-verification in tax administration. Businesses should proactively assess their turnover and ensure compliance to avoid notices and penalties.
