Your business is one asset. Your security shouldn't depend on it alone.

It's easy to pour everything back in when the business is going well - growth feels exciting, and it's tempting to keep backing it. But real security comes from knowing your future doesn't rise and fall with one thing.

Where's the balance for you right now - mostly reinvesting, or have you already started building outside the business too?

Most business owners plan for growth. Fewer plan for what happens if the business doesn't perform the way they hoped.

I see this a lot with the women I work with who've built something of their own: every spare pound goes back into the business, because that's where the energy and the upside are. Understandable. But it also means their entire financial security is tied to one asset.

In this video, I talk about how we help owners find the balance - including a simple approach we often suggest for deciding how much stays in the business and how much comes out to build a life that doesn't depend on it.

Your business can be backed with confidence. It shouldn't be the only thing holding you up.

Have a watch.

A robust plan accounts for what might come, including the cost of care.

It's not the most comfortable line to sit with. But I've found that the women who think about this early are the ones who feel most at ease later - not because they know exactly what will happen, but because they know their plan can absorb it if it does.

I'm curious where this sits for you and your family. Is care something you've already factored in - or one of those questions that's been quietly waiting for the right moment?

03/09/2026

The question most financial plans quietly avoid: what happens if you need care one day?

Not because anyone likes thinking about it. I don't either, if I'm honest. But I've sat with enough women through enough transitions to know that the plans that hold up are the ones that looked this in the eye early - not the ones that hoped it wouldn't come up.

So it's something we build in properly. Not as a worst-case footnote, but as a real scenario we model, test and plan around - including the one thing I always caution women against when they try to "protect" their assets from care costs.

This isn't about predicting the future. It's about knowing your plan can hold whatever it brings.

Have a watch - I think this is one of the more important conversations to have.

Your financial plan shouldn’t force you to choose between security and freedom.

Some parts of life benefit from certainty - knowing essential spending is covered and your future plans are protected.

Other parts need flexibility, giving you room to adapt as your priorities, family or circumstances change.

The right financial structure can help you achieve both.

It’s about creating enough certainty to feel secure, while keeping enough flexibility to enjoy the life you’ve worked hard to build.

Retirement income doesn’t have to be all or nothing.

An annuity can provide certainty, with a guaranteed income that isn’t affected by market movements.

Drawdown offers more flexibility, allowing you to decide how much income to take and when, while keeping your pension invested.

Each comes with different trade-offs around security, control and risk.

For some people, the right answer may be a combination of both - creating a dependable foundation of income, with flexibility on top.

The important thing is choosing a structure that fits the retirement you actually want to live.

A clearer picture of your pensions can make a bigger difference than you think.

Over the course of a career, it’s easy to accumulate different pension pots - particularly if you’ve changed roles, taken time away from work or balanced earning with family responsibilities.

Bringing everything into view can help you understand what you have, where there may be gaps, and whether your current arrangements still support the future you want.

It’s not simply about making things neater.

It’s about creating clarity, so you can make your next financial decisions with greater confidence.

20/08/2026

Your pension history might be more complicated than you realise.

Career changes, different employers and time spent balancing work with family life can often leave you with several pension pots in different places.

Bringing them together can make things simpler, but consolidation isn’t always the right answer.

Some pensions may include valuable guarantees or benefits that could be lost if they’re moved.

The first step is understanding exactly what you have, then deciding what best supports the retirement you want.

Because simplifying your finances should make your future clearer, not cost you something valuable.
