Being busy isn't the same as moving forward.
After last night's eclipse, I was looking through some of the photos I'd taken and this one really stood out.
It also got me thinking.
We're all very good at being busy. There's always something that needs doing, another problem to sort or something else demanding our attention.
And sometimes we can spend far too much time watching what everyone else is doing rather than concentrating on where we actually want to go.
Every now and then it's good to stop, look up and make time for the things that matter.
The same applies in business.
Being rushed off your feet doesn't necessarily mean the business is moving forward.
Sometimes you need to stop and ask:
Where am I actually trying to get to — and are the decisions I'm making today taking me there?
That's one of the things I enjoy about what I do. The numbers aren't just there to tell us what happened last year. Used properly, they can help us work out where we're going next.
And sometimes, away from business altogether, it's simply worth stopping long enough to appreciate moments like this. 🌙🐴
