In real life, I’m the talky one. But recently on this page I have been so quiet, but there’s a good reason! 👀

This summer has been full-on in the best way. We’ve been welcoming lovely new businesses, having lots of exciting conversations and making some big plans for what’s coming next.

Our founder ditched the yellow headband and donned one of a different kind last weekend. 🐭✨

The yellow dresses were left at home and it was Mickey Mouse attire all the way for a magical Bank Holiday weekend aboard the Disney Dream!

But now September has arrived, reality has officially hit and it’s back to construction accounting, doing what we do best. Although our construction clients should probably prepare themselves to hear far more about Mickey Mouse than they ever asked to know! 😂

𝙀 𝙉 𝘿 𝙊 𝙁 𝘼 𝙉 𝙀 𝙍 𝘼

Today marks the end of a very special chapter.

Twenty-seven months ago, I launched a small business with, as you guys already know, a desk underneath the stairs on a street called Baytree.

Since then, we’ve gone from pink to yellow, from under the stairs to a garden office, and from finding our feet to finding our crown as the construction accounting queens. 👑

The achievements came far quicker than I could ever have imagined.

Along the way, I’ve learnt so much, both as a business owner and as a person, which has helped shape the future and the vision for Baywood.

We’ve got some incredibly exciting plans for the future, and we can’t wait to share each milestone with you as it happens.

Bye-bye, Baytree Bookkeepers. 🩷💛

🎵 “No, I don’t want your fine, no… HMRC don’t get no money from me…” 🎵

…said every construction business owner right before:

🔨 Tools, Trucks, Tax returns and a free Tip…💷

If you’re completing your first sole trader Self Assessment, you may be able to claim for tools and equipment you already owned before becoming self-employed, using their reasonable second-hand value when they entered the business.

Your vehicle may also qualify for tax relief, but whether you can claim 100% depends on the type of vehicle, when it was purchased and how much it’s used privately.

And please, for the love of bookkeeping… keep your evidence of the tools and values. 🧾

Even when you’re unsure whether something is claimable, keep the evidence and ask before ruling it out.
