The scheme is expected to work in a similar way to the previous Help to Buy equity loan programme, which ran for 10 years from 2013 until 2023.

Under Help to Buy, buyers needed a slightly bigger 5% cash deposit towards their purchase. They could then access a 20% equity loan from the government, which was interest-free for five years.

While the scheme has been announced, it is not yet open. More details are expected to be given in the forthcoming Autumn Budget.

Punk Against Poverty CIC posted the other day to explain that their pantry has always been based on a really simple principle: take what you need, leave what you can.

We wanted to share a little reminder that the pantry is still outside the Orestone office, open for anyone who needs it.

If you’re able to, you can also help by dropping off non-perishable food items for others to take.

It’s a small idea, but one that can make a real difference in our local community.
