What is apprenticeship levy?
The Apprenticeship Levy is a government initiative which was introduced in 2017.
The primary goal of the Apprenticeship Levy is to encourage businesses to invest in training and upskilling their workforce.
The funds collected through the levy are used to pay for approved apprenticeship training and assessment programs, which help to address skills shortages and improve productivity across various sectors.
From April there will be no changes to the criteria for paying the levy.
£15,000 can be claimed against the amount payable. You can choose to reclaim this from one company or split this amount across all or some of your connected companies, if you own more than one.
Apprenticeship Levy is charged at 0.5% of your Gross pay each month and is added to your monthly PAYE payment. The amount payable is reported in the monthly EPS file to HMRC.
