Turnover nearing £50k? It could be time to ask whether staying a sole trader is still the right fit for your business.
Incorporating isn’t only about tax – it can boost your credibility, protect your personal assets, and set your business up for the long term.
A few signs it could be time to think about becoming a limited company:
👉 Your turnover’s approaching £50k, or profit’s consistently above £30k a year
👉 You’re hiring staff or subcontractors
👉 You’re taking on bigger or longer-term contracts
👉 You want to protect your personal assets
👉 You’re planning for the business to outlast you
I know incorporating can feel like a big step – registering with Companies House means your figures become public, and there’s more to manage:
👉 Self-assessment
👉 Corporation tax
👉 Company accounts
👉 Confirmation statement
Four things instead of one.
But that’s exactly what I handle for my limited company clients, and for most, the benefits still comfortably outweigh the extra admin.
Where are you with this – still weighing it up, or have you already made the switch? I’d love to hear in the comments.
I guide sole traders through every step of incorporating, from setting up the company to handling your accounts with confidence. If you’d like help getting set up, message me or call 07394 283132.
