HMRC is moving to mandatory payrolling of most Benefits in Kind.

If you’re not already reporting benefits and expenses using the Full Payment Submission (FPS) process, you need to make the change by 6 April 2027. (This is the same system you use to report salary details to HMRC.)

How did Making Tax Digital fare with its first big deadline in August?

HMRC originally estimated that about 864,000 taxpayers needed to register within the first phase, which started in April 2026.

As of mid-August, about 294,000 taxpayers still haven't signed up. Is this you?

It's time to act! Getting further behind risks penalty points and fines.

Making Tax Digital may be digital, but getting it right still comes down to people.

Our friendly experts at re:accounts Chartered Accountants are here to help. We love to cut through stuffy tax jargon.

Making Tax Digital is not going away.

The first quarterly deadline has passed (7 August). This first big test of MTD revealed that over half a million people who should have registered haven’t. So, HMRC is taking action.

Is Making Tax Digital on your to-do list?

If you haven’t registered for MTD yet but should, it’s best to be proactive rather than ignore MTD and wait for HMRC to do it for you.

Normally, HMRC’s software does the maths for you. This year, for CGT, it doesn’t.

Here's why:

HMRC’s self assessment software can’t cope with a mid-year CGT rate change. Here’s what you need to do. Update via re:accounts, Stevenage-based accountants.

P11D forms are with us for a bit longer!

The government has decided to hold off on making companies report benefits in kind through payroll for now. You won’t have to switch to the new system until April 2027 … that’s a delay of almost two years.

Does your business need to report benefits in kind?

Talk to the friendly payroll experts at re:accounts. We’ll help you get ready for the big switch over!
