We’ve introduced you to some of the brilliant local businesses joining us for our Sip & Shop in aid of Alzheimer's Society and we’ve three more fabulous ones to share with you!

🕯️ Ampthill Alchemist – their gorgeous candles are highly sought after, with amazing scents that make them a perfect Christmas gift… although you may struggle to give them away once you’ve smelt them!

A little call-out to the women working in construction and the built environment services across Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire.

We’re working on something new specifically for the construction sector, and I’d love to make sure we have a good mix of people and perspectives involved from the outset.

So, I’m particularly keen to connect with women working in and around the industry, whether you’re in the trades, architecture, surveying, engineering, project management, construction businesses or another part of the sector.

I genuinely want different experiences and perspectives represented as we develop what we’re working on. If you’re local to us, I’d love to hear from you.

What a month it has been at Beansprout!

We couldn't talk about September and not mention our rebrand. We have a brand new look, brand new website and new marketing collateral incoming. We are ready for our next chapter and we are loving seeing our new branding in action. Thank you to the Elite in a Week team who have executed our vision and brought it all to life. We are looking forward to launching officially at the Your Business Expo in Bedford on 15th October. Hopefully we will see some of you there.

So what else have we been up to?

This month's book club was a good one. We read 'The Go- Giver' by Bob Burg and we were lucky to be joined by Tina Duggan, the first UK Go- Giver coach. The session was packed with insights and practical tips for business owners.

We have been out and about networking where we have seen lots of familiar faces but connected with some new ones too. Events included Collaborate MK, Luton Collaborate, S R Wood coffee morning, Busy Networking, Chamber of Commerce event for Universal. We were also delighted to be guests at TFI and BOB Networking in Leighton Buzzard.

Our end of summer team picnic had to move inside as the great British weather had other ideas. We also held our Team Away Day where there was lots of learning and crafting.

One of our big highlights though was being the Headline Sponsor for a Charity Golf Day, supporting Hospice at Home Volunteers - Dunstable & Houghton Regis areas our Charity of the Year for 2025. Community is at the heart of everything we do at Beansprout. We love getting involved, supporting local causes that make a real difference, and giving back.

October is going to be another exciting month so watch this space 🍂

I met with my publisher.

Yes… I’m writing a book!

It’s about something I’ve been passionate about for years.

Nobody hands you a manual when you start a business. We’re not taught this stuff at school.

Yet suddenly you’re expected to understand profit, cash flow, tax, pricing and what your numbers are actually telling you.

I want good, practical business advice to be accessible to all business owners because understanding your numbers isn’t just about reporting accounts and taxes. It can help you create more profit, more time, more freedom and more choice.

Sometimes you need more than information. Money and numbers can bring mindset blocks too. Sometimes you need someone beside you to explain things simply, build your confidence, challenge your thinking and encourage you to take that next step.

That’s what I’ve always wanted to give business owners and now I’m putting it into a book.

It’ll be published before the end of the year and yes, there will be a launch party! 🥂

When was the last time you made time to work on yourself as a business owner?

We spend so much time working in our businesses that it can be difficult to find the space to stop, think and challenge how we’re doing things.

That’s exactly what our Book Club is about.

In October, we’re discussing Buy Back Your Time by Dan Martell, a book that asks some really useful (and sometimes uncomfortable!) questions about where your time goes as a business owner.

What are you still doing that you shouldn’t be?

What are you holding onto because it feels easier than handing it over?

And if you freed up some of that time, what could you do with it instead in your business and outside it?

You don’t need to have all the answers. The value comes from getting around the table with other local business owners, sharing experiences, challenging each other’s thinking and taking away ideas you can actually put into practice.

Did you know every 3 minutes in the UK someone develops dementia?

A note from Helen, one of the founders of Beansprout Consultancy on World Alzheimer's Day and a very personal story which explains why the is Beansprout's charity of the year.

More research is needed to understand this cruel disease so it is really important to us that we raise as much money as possible this year, to ensure research can continue to find a cure. In the hopes that one day families like ours and many others don't have to live with this disease. 💜
