💡 Tax Tip Monday: Don’t Leave Tax Planning Until Year-End!

Tax planning shouldn’t be something you only think about when the tax deadline is approaching. By reviewing your financial position throughout the year, you can make informed decisions and potentially avoid unexpected tax bills or missed opportunities.

Regular tax planning can help you:
📊 Understand your current tax position
💰 Identify potential tax-saving opportunities
🔍 Spot changes in your circumstances that could affect your tax position
🎯 Make better-informed financial decisions before the year-end

Your circumstances can change throughout the year — whether that’s changes in income, investments, business profits, property, or personal circumstances.

📩 Want to know how your current position looks? Get in touch with our team to arrange a tax planning review.

📚 Common Bookkeeping Mistakes: Paying Yourself? Here’s What You Need to Know

One of the most common mistakes business owners make is treating paying yourself like a simple transfer of money. 💸

How you pay yourself depends on your business structure — and getting it wrong can create bookkeeping, tax and cash-flow headaches later.

A few things to keep in mind:
✔️ Your business structure matters
✔️ Personal and business finances should be kept separate
✔️ Your bookkeeping should clearly record how money is being taken from the business

The key takeaway? Don’t just transfer money and figure out the bookkeeping later. Make sure you know what the payment represents and how it should be recorded.

🚨 A tax bill shouldn’t be a surprise.

One of the simplest ways to make tax season less stressful? Know what’s coming. 💷

Waiting until the deadline to find out how much tax you owe can put unnecessary pressure on your cash flow.

Instead, keep track of your income and expenses throughout the year and regularly review your tax position. That way, you can plan ahead, set money aside, and avoid any surprises. 📊

💡 Tax tip: Don’t just ask, “How much tax do I owe?” — ask, “How much should I be setting aside?”

"After many wonderful years of building, growing and being part of something I am incredibly proud of, I have made the decision to take early retirement.

When Peter and I set up the practice, we could only have hoped that it would grow into the successful business it is today. Looking back, I feel incredibly proud of everything we have achieved together, and especially of the wonderful clients, colleagues and relationships that have been such a huge part of the journey.

Walking away from something that has been such a significant part of my life is understandably bittersweet. There have been so many challenges, achievements and memories along the way.

Most importantly, I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported me, trusted me and worked alongside me over the years. It has been a genuine privilege, and I am incredibly grateful for the friendships and relationships I have made.

Here’s to the next chapter🥂"
