Your business and your personal life may share the same kitchen table — but they shouldn’t share the same bank account.
Keeping business money separate gives you:
• clearer financial records
• fewer bookkeeping questions
• an easier view of how the business is performing
• less time spent sorting Tesco from tax-deductible expenses
A small change that makes bookkeeping much simpler.
Follow us for straightforward bookkeeping advice that helps you run a better-organised business.

Has your income dropped this year?
Are your Payments on Account based on a year that was much better than the one you’re having now?
You may be able to ask HMRC to reduce them if you expect your profits to be lower. You can do this through your Self Assessment account or by submitting form SA303. Just make sure your estimate is realistic—if it’s too low, HMRC may charge interest later.
No one enjoys giving HMRC an interest-free loan… especially when your own business could make better use of the money.
Not sure if you’re paying too much? Drop us a message—we’re happy to point you in the right direction.
Have your profits changed this year, or are you still paying the same Payments on Account as last year? Let us know in the comments.

Your business deserves its own bank account. Treat it like a business, not a hobby.
Your future bookkeeper will thank you. Your bookkeeping bill probably will too.

⏰ MTD for Income Tax is creeping up…
The deadline for the first quarterly update is 7 August 2026.
If you’re one of our clients and your records for 6 April – 5 July 2026 are still sitting on the kitchen table, hiding in a drawer, or waiting patiently in your inbox… now’s the perfect time to send them over.
We’ll happily work our bookkeeping magic, but even we can’t reconcile paperwork that hasn’t arrived yet.
To give us enough time to check everything properly and submit your update, please send your records as soon as you can.
Please note: if we receive your information very close to the deadline, we can’t guarantee your MTD submission will be filed on time.
A little sooner means a lot less stress for everyone.
