Does anyone else occasionally look at their children and wonder when they suddenly got so grown up?
One minute they’re tiny and completely dependent on you.
Then somehow you’re talking about secondary schools, driving lessons, university, first jobs and eventually helping them get on the property ladder.
It all feels a long way off… until it isn’t.
I think that’s one of the things having a family has taught me about financial planning.
It’s very easy to think of it as pensions, investments and numbers on a spreadsheet.
But really, most of us are planning for moments.
👍 Being able to take the family away.
👍 Helping the kids when they need it.
👍 Having the option to work a bit less.
👍 Or reaching a point where you can say, “Actually, I think I’m ready to retire.”
You can’t plan every part of life but having your finances in good shape can give you more choices when those moments arrive.
And they seem to arrive a lot quicker than you think.
